After the independence of the country the name of position changed as the Revenue officer. However the present Divisional Secretariat of Homagama has evolved from the Revenue Officer of Hewagam Korala.

The first Revenue officer of Hewagam Korala was Mr.Peter C.Abeysekara. The office of Revenue officer is said to have held at 5, Mawathgama, Homagama. It was a rented house which is available even today with several modifications in it. Present view of the building is shown below.

Later in 1949 the office has been shifted to a place where presently identified as Silverherstern Estate of Gabadawatta.

Later on the division separated in to two distinct domains called Eastern Hewagam Koralaya based on Hanwella, Padukka and and Avissawella areas and tha Western Hewagam Koralaya based on Homagama area.
